Recruiting TCNs is one of numerous strategies which companies from Romania use to attract new staff and to enrich their teams

Depending on the region and sector in which the companies are doing business in Romania, they may find it difficult to find employees to fill vacancies. Recruiting third-country nationals is one of numerous strategies which companies from Bucharest use to attract new staff and to enrich their teams.

Bucharest, the capital of Romania was in this context, one of the most relevant location for organizing the fourth training for employers interested in recruiting and hiring TCNs. The event gathered top employers, such as IKEA, Lidl Romania, Association of Human Resource Service Providers (AFSRU); public institutions such as General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI), National County Agency for Employment (ANOFM), Romanian Labour Inspectorate (ITM), and also organizations active in the field of migration and integration of foreigners in Romania, such as Ecumenical Association of Churches  from Romania (AIDROM), The Romanian National Council for Refugees (CNRR), International Organization for Migration (OIM), European and Romanian Pan Arab Cultural Center (ERPCC), Schottener Foundation Social Services.

Within the event were debated many important topics, such as raising awareness of diversity-related issues in companies and authorities, creating a ‘welcoming culture’, offering anti-discrimination trainings and introducing diversity and anti-discrimination officers as important measures for ensuring the workplace integration.

State and civil-society programmes and measures promoting the labour market integration of third-country nationals often focus on improving access to the labour market as follows counselling, recognition of qualifications and job placement. Workplace integration, however, takes place within companies and institutions themselves.

The presentations focused on the needs of employers, the procedures for hiring migrants, the difficulties that migrants themselves encounter in finding a job, and about managing diversity. The participants appreciated and did emphasise about the importance of such trainings that offer support to the local companies, helping them to recruit foreigners and to enhance new business development opportunities.
